Accelerator Physics

The Accelerator Physics group of the Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS) is responsible for the design and specification of parameters and tolerances of all the particle accelerator subsystems that make up the synchrotron light source Sirius.

The group’s activities involve the design of accelerators, the specification of tolerances and parameters of the subsystems, including their commissioning and operation. To achieve this goal, several optimization and simulation tools are used for the study of the dynamics of an ultrarelativistic electron beam in electromagnetic fields.

The group also promotes the dissemination of knowledge about particle beam dynamics in accelerators, thus providing a theoretical foundation for other LNLS groups involved in the engineering of accelerators.
