The Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS) both organizes science outreach events, and regularly participates in such events promoted by governmental and non-governmental associations, where the research conducted in the Laboratory is presented.
Ciência Aberta (Open Science) is an annual event in which CNPEM opens its doors to the public to present its research and applications, and the benefits that science can bring to society. In this initiative, CNPEM’s facilities receive visits so that the public can get to know the Center’s activities closely, with attractions for all ages spread across the campus, including exhibitions, workshops, informal lectures, and much more!
The Brazilian National Science and Technology Week (SNCT) is coordinated by the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) and has been held nationally since 2004 with the collaboration of institutions for teaching, dissemination and research. Its main purpose is to mobilize the population, especially children and young people, around themes and activities of science and technology.
The Annual Meeting of the Brazilian Society for the Advancement of Science (SBPC) has been promoted since 1948. The meeting is attended by representatives of scientific societies, authorities and managers of the Brazilian science and technology system. The event is an important forum for the dissemination of the advances of science in several areas of knowledge and for the debate of public policies related to the theme. The meeting also includes an exhibition aimed at the general public with more than one hundred science, technology, and innovation institutions.
