Ipê

The IPÊ Group is responsible for the management and operation of the IPÊ beamline of the synchrotron light source Sirius, at the Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS).

The IPÊ beamline is dedicated to resonant Inelastic X-ray scattering (RIXS), X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and X-ray Photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) in the soft X-ray range (100-2000 eV). These complimentary tools allow characterization of the chemical composition, electronic structure, and elementary excitations in matter in the solid, liquid or gas state.

We are an experimental materials physics group interested in the study of the electronic and magnetic properties of novel complex materials and nanostructures.  Our goal is to reach fundamental understading of the quantum states of electrons in solids and molecules that might help the fabrication of novel materials with desired properties. We investigate the atomic and electronic structure of materials using a variety of synchrotron based experimental probes including RIXS, XAS and XPS besides other characterization techniques.

Ipê Beamline

IPÊ (Inelastic scattering and PhotoElectron spectroscopy) is beamline optimized for high-resolution Resonant Inelastic X-Ray Scattering (RIXS) and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) applied to the study of the chemical composition, electronic structure and elementary excitations in solids and molecular systems.
