The Insertion Devices and Photon Diagnostics group (IDS) is responsible for defining the light sources for the beamlines at Sirius and for the development and operation of accelerator diagnostic components that use synchrotron light.

In the area of light sources, IDS defines the optimal parameters for insertion devices, aiming to optimize both the light properties for each beamline and the impact of these devices on the storage ring. To achieve this, the group works closely with the scientific teams responsible for beamline science, as well as with engineering groups related to beamlines and accelerators.

In the diagnostic part, the group is responsible for developing and operating the Carcará beamline, which uses the light beam to diagnose and monitor characteristics of the electron beam in the storage ring.
