Registrations are open for the LNLS' 27th Annual Users Meeting (RAU), which will take place from November 22nd to 24th, 2017, at the CNPEM campus in Campinas, SP. Those interested in participating should complete and submit the application form available on the website by June 10 (for those wishing to request financial assistance) or August 21 (all other). The Annual Users Meeting (RAU) is an event organized by the Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS) and brings together researchers using the infrastructure of the LNLS to conduct their research in order to evaluate scientific results and discuss issues relevant to the development of the institution.

Companies from São Paulo were selected for the construction of components of Sirius, the new Brazilian synchrotron light source
The São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and the Funding Authority for Studies and Projects (Finep) have just announced 11 new projects that will receive support for the development of products, processes and services for Sirius, the new Brazilian Synchrotron Light Source, under construction on the CNPEM (Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials), in Campinas, Brazil. The proposals selected in this second phase of the so-called Sirius Challenges will receive resources of up to R$ 1.5 million (each) through the PIPE/PAPPE Program for Economic Subsidy, and have a deadline of 24 months to be developed.

The meeting was attended by 134 delegates, in August 24th and 25th, 2016 at the CNPEM Campus.
The 26th RAU (LNLS' Annual Users Meeting) was held in August 24th and 25th, 2016 at the CNPEM Campus in Campinas, Brazil. The meeting was attended by 134 delegates in total, among which, 26 originated from foreign institutions and/or companies, representing 8 different countries (Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, United States), and 108 delegates were from Brazil.

FAPESP and FINEP are selecting proposals of companies interested in developing components for the new light source
The São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and the Funding Authority for Studies and Projects (Finep) postponed until February 5th, 2016, the deadline for submitting proposals in order to participate in the public selection of companies based on São Paulo State which are interested in participating in the development of Sirius, the new Brazilian synchrotron light source.

Glauco Ferro Leal, a PhD student carrying out his research at the LNLS under supervision of Dr. Cristiane B. Rodella and Prof. Antonio Aprigio da Silva Curvelo, received the Professor Arikerne Sucupira Award in the V Meeting of the Brazilian School for Green Chemistry, given to the best poster presentation by a graduate student.
